Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) is a Semi-Autonomous Government Agency, established through Legal Notice No. 17 of February 14, 1986. The Institute is mandated to train personnel in special needs education and offer related services, run an educational and psychological assessment centre, Pre-primary, function as a resource centre, conduct research and design, produce and maintain assistive devices and technologies.   The Institute seeks to recruit qualified and competent staff to fill the following vacant position.


KISE/ADVERT/HR/1/2023: PRE-PRIMARY HEAD TEACHER: CSG 11 – (1 Year Contract Renewable)

Basic Salary: Kshs. 32,700    House Allowance: Kshs. 10000    Commuter:   Kshs. 4,000 

Job specification     

The successful candidate will be responsible for organizing and ensuring smooth running of the Pre-primary, assist student teachers of KISE on assigned practicum in the Pre-primary, teach all the activities as approved, liaise with the Educational Assessment Centre of KISE in matters concerning Pre-primary learners, supervise staff, keep all professional records and ensuring conformity with set standards and compliance with policies and procedures.

For appointment to this grade, candidate must have: –

  1. KCSE mean grade C plain or KCE Division II and above
  2. Diploma in Early Childhood Education or equivalent.
  3. Training in Special Needs Education
  4. Served as a teacher in Pre-primary for three (3) years
  5. Registered with the Teachers Service Commission.
  6. Bachelors degree will be an added advantage

The above candidate must be Computer literate, team player, have good communication skills, ability to multitask and possess good leadership skills.
