The program envisages impacting economically, the lives of Persons of Disabilities furthest left behind in society through training and capacity-building initiatives, Access to Government and Non-government Procurement Opportunities, Mentorship, Linkages to industries for employment and apprenticeship opportunities, and Funding of Small and Medium Enterprises.
Success Story:
DESC has a total of 96 beneficiaries, spread into two cohorts so far:
- Cohort one, dubbed “from beggars to suppliers” has 15 beneficiaries from within Nairobi County; and
- Cohort two, with the theme “Creating a world where Youths with disabilities transition from school for the world of work” has 81 beneficiaries. Beneficiaries of the second cohort are youths with disabilities from four TVET institutions across the country
Beneficiaries from both cohorts have undergone intensive training on finances, procurement processes, and life skills and values and a number have been registered as suppliers in government and non-government entities.
