KACHELIBA, West Pokot – Saturday, 13th September 2025 will be remembered as a day of hope for hundreds of families in Kacheliba Sub-County, after the M-Pesa Foundation in partnership with the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) organized a free medical outreach camp at St. Kacheliba Girls School.

From as early as 8 a.m., parents, children, and adults trooped into the school grounds to seek medical attention and specialized services. The camp, which ran until 5 p.m., focused primarily on disability assessments and therapy services, with KISE specialists on the ground offering support to children and adults alike. The turnout was overwhelming. Many children underwent comprehensive disability assessments, while adults too were screened and provided with counseling and therapy. Despite logistical challenges and the sheer numbers that stretched resources, health workers and specialists pressed on, ensuring that as many people as possible were attended to.

County Executive Committee (CEC) Member for Health, Claire Parkalea, praised the initiative, noting that it had brought much-needed services closer to communities that often struggle to access specialized medical care. “This medical camp has given our people an opportunity that is rarely available in remote areas such as Kacheliba. We are deeply grateful for the partnerships that made it possible,” she said.

Kacheliba MP, who was also present, lauded M-Pesa Foundation and KISE for their commitment to improving health and education outcomes for marginalized communities. He further urged for more such collaborations to reach other underserved regions of West Pokot.

Residents expressed gratitude, with many parents saying the assessments would help them better understand their children’s needs and seek timely interventions.

Though the day was marked by challenges, including high demand ,the spirit of service and community shone through. For many in Kacheliba, the camp was not just about treatment, but also about dignity, inclusion, and hope for a brighter future.
