Meet Deborah, from the heart of Nyandarua ,a woman whose life is a living testimony that limitations do not have the final say.

At just two years old, Deborah was diagnosed with paralysis. What followed were years marked by denial, quiet tears, unanswered questions, and moments when the weight of her reality felt overwhelming. Like many, she wrestled with why her and why so early. But somewhere along that difficult road, Deborah made a powerful choice ,she chose acceptance. And in that moment, everything changed. Acceptance did not weaken her; it unlocked her strength.

Today, Deborah moves through life with purpose and confidence. She is rarely seen without her knitting tools , not because she has to carry them, but because she is proud of them. They are more than tools; they are her livelihood, her independence, and her voice. With patient hands and an unbreakable spirit, she knits beautiful children’s sweaters, each stitch reflecting resilience, skill, and hope. Through her work, she has exceeded expectations placed on her and proved that ability is not measured by mobility, but by determination.

Deborah has become a quiet source of inspiration in her community. Many look at her and rethink their own limitations. If she can build a business, support herself, and live with joy despite physical challenges, then what excuse remains? Her life speaks loudly ,encouraging others living with disabilities to step forward, try again, and believe that they too can thrive.

As we spoke, she smiled shyly and asked, “Mimi nitapanda kwa hii truck kweli?” There was doubt in her voice, but also hope. And yes , she did.

With support from our mobile truck, Deborah was assisted up and taken for her long-awaited physiotherapy session. Her excitement was unmistakable, like someone stepping into a long-promised chapter of renewal. For Deborah, this wasn’t just a medical check-up. It was affirmation. It was progress. It was proof that her journey is still unfolding.

Deborah’s story reminds us that disability does not define destiny ,courage does. And through her strength, creativity, and perseverance, she continues to inspire many to look beyond their limitations and rise, boldly, into possibility.
